Senate Actions Reflect Christian Values of Leadership, Justice, and Remembrance
The Senate recently unanimously passed two resolutions that echo Christian values of justice, compassion, and the importance of remembering God’s work in history.
1. S.Res.39 – National Trafficking and Modern Slavery Prevention Month
This resolution designates January as a time to raise awareness about human trafficking and modern slavery. Micah 6:8 calls us to “act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” As Christians, we have a clear mandate to defend the oppressed, protect the vulnerable, and work for justice in all areas of life. The fight against trafficking is not only a societal issue but also a spiritual one, calling us to prayer, advocacy, and action on behalf of those enslaved and exploited.
2. S.Res.40 – International Holocaust Remembrance Day
Passed in recognition of January 27, this resolution honors the victims of the Holocaust and reaffirms a commitment to oppose antisemitism in all its forms. Psalm 34:18 reminds us that “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” By remembering the atrocities of the Holocaust, we are called to stand against hatred and to bear witness to God’s love for all people. The unanimous support for this resolution reflects a commitment to truth, compassion, and vigilance in preventing future injustices.
A Call to Prayer and Action
These Senate actions remind us of the biblical call to pray for our leaders and participate in the work of justice. As 1 Timothy 2:1-2 says, “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”
Let us pray for all of the President’s confirmed nominations as they prepare to serve our country that their leadership will reflect God’s wisdom and guidance.
Let us also remember to advocate for the vulnerable, speak out against injustice, and teach future generations the importance of historical truth.
At Gideon Law Group, we are committed to supporting individuals, families, and organizations in living out these values in their daily lives and work. Whether through legal guidance or a shared commitment to faith, we stand with you in seeking justice, honoring history, and praying for our nation’s leaders.
