Chris Baker, Senior Legal Columnist
Chris is a native of Plain Dealing, a small town in the Northwest edge of Louisiana, and graduated from River Oaks High School in Monroe, Louisiana. He married his wife, Jodie Baker, in 2004 and is a father of two wonderful children, Landry and Wyatt. Chris graduated from Louisiana State University in Shreveport in 2000 and Regent University School of Law in 2009. During his law school career, he served as a clerk for the American Center for Law and Justice (“ACLJ”) and was appointed Associate Counsel in their Washington, DC office after his admission to the Louisiana State Bar. During his tenure with ACLJ, Chris worked on several cases at the Supreme Court of the United States dealing with religious liberties, freedom of speech, and second amendment rights. Baker also helped to shape and analyze congressional legislation and regulatory matters with various agencies, such as the IRS, FCC, and Department of Defense. Chris was tasked with furthering international policy at the United Nations and researching Middle East history and policy. Upon leaving ACLJ, Chris returned home to North Louisiana and joined a small local firm focused on insurance defense, commercial litigation, and regulatory concerns primarily associated with large transport companies and common carriers, including Old Dominion Freight Lines and Walmart Transport. In 2012, he founded Baker Title and Abstract, LLC, an independent real estate title insurance and escrow office. In addition to his duties with Gideon Law Group, he continues to manage Baker Title and maintains a separate law practice in Louisiana dealing with real estate matters, large commercial transactions, business acquisitions, estate matters, entertainment and project development.
