Xi in DC

Chinese President Xi Jinping spent three days in Washington, DC last week as part of an ongoing effort to strengthen diplomatic relations between the United States and China. President Xi and U.S. President Donald Trump discussed many issues, including artificial intelligence (AI), the U.S.-Iran war, and economic relations between the two countries, which are the two largest economies in the world.

Better Than Easy

My friend, easy is so very attractive! Two-hour delivery, knowledge without grappling, and instant gratification are so very appealing—seductive even! We want easy!

But there is something far better than easy. You were created and infused with the very likeness of God not to simply lead a life of ease but in fact to join the Creator in His work (1 Cor. 3:9)!

Has America Been Gaslit Regarding Transgender Suicides?

A growing body of evidence from outside the United States suggests that virtually no evidence supports the contention that restricting gender transition interventions contributes to rising suicide rates. Contrary to such contentions, a large-scale study of health data on Finnish youths who sought care from gender clinics undermines the claim that gender-transition interventions improve the mental health of gender-care recipients. Indeed, the study found that serious mental health problems increased dramatically among adolescents and young adults who underwent gender-transition interventions.

Press Pool Banned

The White House has banned reporters from CNN, MS Now, and Politico from accessing White House grounds or participating in White House press events. In response, the White House TV pool, which is composed of ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News, and NBC is boycotting coverage of the White House and the president during the ban. The three banned outlets have filed a lawsuit seeking to be reinstated on First Amendment grounds. President Trump responded that it was not a restriction of a free press but rather a crackdown on fake news.

Living Unhindered

Any, and all of these things will pull you out of step with God and His will. These things can often creep in unnoticed, or maybe unwilling to confront in yourself. Do you a community around you? One that can help you see the things that you are hiding from yourself? Do you have friend that can challenge you on anything you are thinking? You need them. God made you for community. A community that knows it is just as messed up as you. Walk through life together and see how you can be pointed towards Jesus.

A Deal with Greenland

The U.S., Greenland, and Denmark have a deal, but it is not the long-discussed U.S. acquisition of Greenland. Instead, the three countries signed a deal to afford the U.S. expanded military presence in the country and reaffirm Greenland’s status as a self-determined territory of Denmark. Perhaps most significant is the agreement that no non-NATO military base will be permitted in Greenland. The leaders of the three countries signed the deal during meetings at the United Nations, and Denmark and Greenland will need to ratify it before it can take effect.

Will the Supreme Court Decide a Dispute between  A Christian Family Spa and a Transgender Woman?

A few weeks ago, the Pacific Justice Institute, along with the Alliance Defending Freedom, filed an urgently important petition for a writ of certiorari to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. This petition raises the following question before the U. S. Supreme Court: Can Olympus Spa, a Christian, family-run Korean bathhouse that provides an intimate environment exclusively for women and girls, be required to admit a male who identifies as a woman?

Midterm Convention

Election Day is less than seven weeks away, and Republicans held a “Midterm Convention” in Dallas last week to make their pitch to voters. President Donald Trump headlined the event, and party leaders hope it will help buck the historical trend of midterms cutting against the party in power. Democrats, on the other hand, hope to take control of both the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House, as well as build momentum for the presidential election in 2028.

Spurgeon on Doctrine: Justification

One cannot approach the doctrine of justification without first recognizing that mankind is sinful. That sinfulness means that the holy law of God has been, is being, and will continue to be transgressed by mankind. These transgressions leave man in need of justification before the Lord.

Never Forget

It was 25 years ago last Friday that planes were deliberately crashed into the two World Trade Center towers in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, DC, and another went down in rural Pennsylvania after passengers fought back against hijackers. Memorials were held at Ground Zero and many other locations, and the promise was again renewed to “never forget.”

AI Guardrails

It is rare for an industry to ask to be regulated, but the CEOs of two major Artificial Intelligence (AI) companies have done just that. Anthropic’s Dario Amodei and OpenAI’s Sam Altman are citing public safety and a pace of progress that exceeds human ability to guide it as the reasons for guardrails. Amodei penned an article detailing his recommendations and OpenAI put its initial public offering (IPO) on hold. Both companies suggested third-party auditors and global standards for advances in the technology.

Why Did the Biden Administration Target Catholic Priests?

In 2023, the FBI’s Richmond Field Office during the Biden Administration issued an internal assessment titled “Interest of Racially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremists in Radical-Traditionalist Catholic Ideology Almost Certainly Presents New Mitigation Opportunities.” The assessment claimed, largely without credible evidence, that white supremacists and other domestic extremists were increasingly attempting to co-opt or infiltrate “radical-traditionalist Catholic” communities. Properly appreciated, this document is inconsistent with the First Amendment right of all Americans—Catholics included—to freely exercise their religion, without government interference.

The Giggles

Giggles are so good. Truly, they are terrific and good for the soul. You should giggle today.

The joy of Lord is even better! If you root yourself in the strength of God’s Word, you just might laugh more than 20 times a day. But no matter the number of laughs, the joy of God’s Word will prove strong enough to support the work He has assigned you.
